They can also be decent inside objectives because defenders will mostly be focused on killing the attackers in site.
Placing them where defenders are likely to vault over makes it very hard for them to deal with. The most effective way (in my opinion) to get kills with claymores are by placing them under windows or by doors where defenders may attempt to run out on you.
